Webinar broadcast was on Tuesday, June 28th 2011
The recent increase in lawsuits brought by non-practicing entities (NPEs) requires companies to develop a new set of practices to reduce the risk and cost of IP litigation. Companies in the US spend an estimated $5 billion per year defending against NPE lawsuits, which does not include billions more on settlements and judgments. The number of defendants per NPE lawsuit has almost doubled in two years from 3.3 in 2008 to 6.0 in 2010.
Microsoft is often the focus of NPEs who target large technology companies with IP litigation – frequently with large portfolios of questionable quality.
Join us for a webinar with Microsoft’s John Mulgrew, Associate General Counsel, to learn best practices to proactively avoid patent infringement lawsuits in order to minimize the risk and cost of litigation. In this webinar, Mr. Mulgrew will discuss Microsoft’s approach, including:
- Key trends in NPE litigation
- How to organize and develop teams to mobilize around litigation avoidance
- Strategic areas of focus when developing a proactive strategy to avoid litigation
- Processes to handle threats that minimize risk and cost
This webinar is hosted by Marshall Phelps, Board Member of Article One Partners. Microsoft Corporation recently became a charter member of Article One Partners recently launched program, Litigation Avoidance. Learn More
