Article One Researcher Patent ProfessionalPatentprofessional is a patent and trademark researcher from Mumbai, India.  He has a background in pharmaceutical sciences and has been in the IP field for four years.  He first learned about Article One when doing research on crowdsourcing in IP, and his favorite part about researching is getting to choose a topic that is of interest and getting to learn more about it.

 

What skills are the most useful in your research with Article One?


Patent searching skills and also the search on Asian patent databases such as PAJ, SIPO, IPAIRS, etc.

 

What is the most challenging aspect of Article One Research?


Many professional brains working on prior art search and you try to find the best prior art.

 

What online resources do you use in your research?


USPTO, Espacenet, Depatisnet, PAJ, SIPO, IPAIRS, Science direct, Google scholar, and others.

 

What have you learned about researching, technology, or patents since joining Article One?


I learned about researching in most competitive situations and also technologies which are emerging such as LTE and Antibodies.

 

Would you recommend researching with Article One to a friend or colleague?


I would definitely recommend AOP because of following reasons: A) Access to challenging cases B) Platform to show your talent in terms of IP researching C) Platform for IP professionals to come together D) Rewards in return of prior art submitted

 

What are your Top 3 Tips for being an AOP Researcher?


1. Study the case thoroughly

2. Always go from narrow to broad searches

3. Always stay positive while finding prior art searches

 

What is the most exciting story or discovery you have made while searching for prior art?


I joined AOP in December, 2011 and have been a Most Valuable Researcher twice. This excites me more than anything.
